History of Adam’s Fountain, Ooty
Dating its history back to the 19th century, the Adam’s Fountain was built in the year 1886 to pay respect and honor the ex-Governor of Ooty who spent his last few days within the region. It took a total amount of INR 13000 to INR 14000 to complete its construction and the entire money was collected through public funding.
Initially, it was installed opposite the collector’s office but due to the water shortage, the fountain was moved to the Charring Cross Junction which is its current location.
